Caring for a leather sofa between professional cleans

Leather is skin — it needs gentle cleaning and occasional moisture, not the same products you use on laminate floors. Start weekly with a dry microfibre cloth to lift dust; grit is what scratches the finish when people sit down.

For light marks, wipe with a cloth barely dampened with water, then dry immediately. Never saturate leather or use baby wipes; the lotions in them can stain. Test any commercial leather cleaner on a hidden seam first.

Condition twice a year with a product matched to your leather type (aniline vs pigmented). Apply thinly, buff off excess, and keep the sofa away from radiators and south-facing windows that bake and crack the hide.
